Abstract
The invention relates to mold material mixtures containing at least one aluminum oxide in the alpha phase and/or at least one aluminum/silicon mixed oxide, except for aluminum/silicon mixed oxides having a layered silicate structure, as a particulate metal oxide, in combination with refractory mold base materials and a water glass-based binder system. The mold material mixtures are used for the production of molds and cores for the foundry industry.
Claims32
A mold material mixture for producing casting molds and cores for metal processing, comprising:
- a) a refractory mold base material;
- b) water glass as an inorganic binder;
- and
- c) at least one particulate metal oxide, wherein the particulate metal oxide comprises at least one of:
- at least one aluminum oxide in the alpha phase;
- and
- at least one aluminum/silicon mixed oxide, other than aluminum/silicon mixed oxides with layered silicate structure.
(canceled)
A multicomponent system for production of molds or cores comprising at least the following spatially separated components (A) and (B):
- (A) a powdered additive component, devoid of water glass, comprising a particulate metal oxide that comprises at least one of:
- at least one aluminum oxide in the alpha phase and at least one aluminum/silicon mixed oxide, other than aluminum/silicon mixed oxides with layered silicate structure;
- and
- (B) a liquid binder component (B) comprising at least water glass containing water.
