Abstract
Techniques are disclosed for modulating the generation of charge current by operational circuitry included in an implantable medical device (IMD) for delivery of an induction stimulation pulse waveform by the IMD. The modulation may include modulating a charging circuit of the operational circuitry to facilitate the regulation of the induction stimulation pulse waveform. The techniques include monitoring an electrical parameter of a charging path during the delivery of the induction stimulation pulse and modulating the charging circuit based on the monitored electrical parameter.
Claims20
An implantable cardiac stimulation device, comprising:
- at least two electrodes;
- a charging circuit operable to generate a charge current;
- an output circuit coupled to the charging circuit and operable to receive the charge current and to deliver a stimulation pulse through the at least two electrodes in accordance with a treatment regimen;
- a monitoring device coupled between the output circuit and the control circuit, wherein the monitoring device is operable to measure an electrical parameter during delivery of the stimulation pulse;
- and
- a control circuit coupled to the charging circuit, wherein the control circuit is configured to issue a modulation signal operable to regulate the generation of the charge current by the charging circuit in response to the measured electrical parameter.
A method performed by an implantable cardiac stimulation device to deliver a stimulation induction waveform to a patient, comprising:
- initiating, by a charging circuit, a generation of a charge current for the stimulation induction waveform;
- measuring, by a monitoring circuit, an electrical parameter of a charging path during the delivery of the charge current for the stimulation induction waveform;
- generating, by a control circuit, a modulation signal based on the measured electrical parameter;
- controlling an average amount of the generated charge current based on the modulation signal;
- and
- delivering, by an output circuit, the stimulation induction waveform to the patient.
