Claims20
An antimicrobial cap device comprising:
- an opening having a diameter sufficient to receive a connector;
- an inner surface defining a volume sufficient to receive the connector;
- and
- a quantity of antimicrobial material applied to the inner surface, wherein the quantity of antimicrobial material is dissolved into a residual fluid from the connector to provide an antimicrobial solution within the volume having a concentration from approximately 0.005% w/w to approximately 25% w/w.

An antimicrobial cap device comprising:
- an opening having a diameter sufficient to receive a connector having an aperture, an internal geometry, and a bottom;
- an inner surface defining a volume sufficient to receive the connector;
- and
- an antimicrobial plug having a proximal end attached to a base of the antimicrobial cap, and a distal end extending outwardly therefrom, the antimicrobial plug having a length and diameter sufficient to be inserted through the aperture of the connector, such that the distal end is positioned in proximity to the bottom of the connector when the connector is inserted into the antimicrobial cap.
