Abstract
Beneficial and synergistic effects for alleviating joint pain and symptoms of osteoarthritis and/or rheumatoid arthritis have been found using a mixture of fish oil and fish oil derived, choline based, phospholipid bound fatty acid mixture including polyunsaturated EPA and DHA either alone or in combination with other active constituents, including astaxanthin and polymeric hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronan) in an oral dosage form.

A method to treat and alleviate symptoms of joint pain in a patient by administering a therapeutic amount of a dietary supplement composition including a marine based oil comprising phospholipids and at least one of polyunsaturated EPA and DHA in combination with astaxanthin and pro-inflammatory low molecular weight microbial fermented sodium hyaluronate fragments having a molecular weight between 0.5 and 300 kilodaltons (kDa) in an oral dosage form.
