Abstract
The present invention concerns methods and compositions involving inhibitors and of RAD51, a protein involved in homologous recombination. In some embodiments, there are methods for sensitizing cells to the effects of DNA damaging agents, which can have particular applications for cancer patients. In some embodiments of the invention, the RAD51 inhibitor is a small molecule that directly affects RAD51 activity, such as its ability to promote filament formation.
Claims43
A method for inhibiting RAD51 protein in a cell comprising providing to the cell an effective amount of a RAD51 protein inhibitor, wherein the RAD51 inhibitor is a compound of the formula:
- wherein R1-R5 are each separately H or halogen, and R6 and R7 are each independently H, aromatic, 4-methylpiperazin-1-yl, morpholino, or 2-(N,N-dimethylamino)-ethylthioether.
A method for inhibiting RAD51 protein in a cell comprising providing to the cell an effective amount of a RAD51 protein inhibitor, wherein the RAD51 inhibitor is the compound of the formula:
- or a salt thereof.
A method for inhibiting RAD51 protein in a cell comprising providing to the cell an effective amount of a RAD51 protein inhibitor, wherein the RAD51 inhibitor is the compound of the formula:
- or a salt thereof.
