Abstract
The invention provides seed and plants of sweet corn hybrid SV1580SC and the parent lines thereof. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of sweet corn hybrid SV1580SC and the parent lines thereof, and to methods for producing a sweet corn plant produced by crossing such plants with themselves or with another sweet corn plant, such as a plant of another genotype. The invention further relates to seeds and plants produced by such crossing. The invention further relates to parts of such plants, including the parts of such plants.
Claims33
A corn plant comprising at least a first set of the chromosomes of corn line SYW-6RLAC068, a sample of seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-121077.
A seed comprising at least a first set of the chromosomes of corn line SYW-6RLAC068, a sample of seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-121077.
A method of introducing a desired trait into a corn line comprising:
- (a) crossing a plant of line SYW-6RLAC068 with a second corn plant that comprises a desired trait to produce F1 progeny, a sample of seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-121077;
- (b) selecting an F1 progeny that comprises the desired trait;
- (c) backcrossing the selected F1 progeny with a plant of line SYW-6RLAC068 to produce backcross progeny;
- (d) selecting backcross progeny comprising the desired trait and the physiological and morphological characteristic of corn line SYW-6RLAC068;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny that comprise the desired trait.
A method of producing a plant comprising an added trait, the method comprising introducing a transgene conferring the trait into a plant of hybrid SV1580SC, or line SYW-6RLAC068, a sample of seed of said hybrid and line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-121074, and ATCC Accession Number PTA-121077, respectively.
A method for producing a seed of a plant derived from at least one of hybrid SV1580SC, or line SYW-6RLAC068 comprising the steps of:
- (a) crossing a corn plant of hybrid SV1580SC, or line SYW-6RLAC068 with itself or a second corn plant;
- a sample of seed of said hybrid and line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-121074, and ATCC Accession Number PTA-121077, respectively;
- and
- (b) allowing seed of a hybrid SV1580SC, or line SYW-6RLAC068-derived corn plant to form.
