Abstract
A percussionist's towel comprises a terry-cloth towel having a deformable band centrally located between the long edges of the towel and preferably including grommets along the shorter edges of the towel. The deformable band may comprise a pocket filled with microbeads, foam, padding, flocculation, or other substances used for pillows. The towel and deformable band are sound-deadening. The deformable band deters percussion mallets or the like from rolling off the towel when the towel is placed on a music stand that has been set into a generally horizontal position to function as a table.
Claims20
A percussion towel comprising:
- a towel;
- a deformable member affixed to the towel having at least a portion in a middle region of the towel, spaced apart from edges of the towel,
- wherein the deformable member is thicker than the towel.
A percussion towel comprising:
- a generally rectangular towel having a thickness sufficient to provide sound deadening for a percussionist's mallet or other percussive striking device;
- a deformable member affixed to the towel, wherein the deformable member is located generally centrally between the longer edges of the towel, and wherein the deformable member deforms when either a striking head or a shaft of a percussive striking device such as a mallet is placed upon the deformable member, thereby to restrict rolling of the striking device from the position in which it was placed;
- wherein the deformable member is thicker than the towel.
