Image processing apparatus

An image processing apparatus comprising:

• a processor which performs a process including,
• calculating a first data amount that is a data amount per page of a print job to be processed;
• determining whether the calculated first data amount is less than or equal to a preset threshold value;
• extracting images having a resolution that exceeds a printing resolution from among images included in the print job to be processed when the calculated first data amount is greater than the threshold value;
• converting the resolution of the extracted images into the printing resolution;
• calculating a second data amount that is a data amount per page of the print job after conversion into the printing resolution;
• determining whether the calculated second data amount is less than or equal to the threshold value;
• causing a user to select an element that the user desires to prioritize from among printing speed and image quality when the calculated second data amount is greater than the threshold value;
• and
• reducing the resolutions of the images included in the print job to be processed so as to be at least equal to a data amount per page when a value of throughput in a RIP process is almost equal to a maximum value of throughput in a printing process, when the element selected by the user is the printing speed,
• the threshold value being a data amount per page when the value of the throughput in the RIP process is less than the maximum value of the throughput in the printing process.
