Abstract
A method for balancing a wheel comprises at least the steps of extruding a profile of an uncured and/or non-vulcanized viscoelastic polymer comprising at least one filler having a total density of more than 0.9 kg/dm3, cutting a section from an extruded profile of said polymer, wherein the length of the section correlates with the required mass for balancing, applying the balancing weight to the rim of the wheel, and curing of the balancing weight at the wheel.
Claims19
Method for balancing a wheel, comprising the steps of:
- extruding a profile of viscoelastic polymer comprising at least one filler and having a total density of more than 0.9 kg/dm3, the viscoelastic polymer being at least one of uncured and non-vulcanized;
- cutting a section from the extruded profile of said polymer, wherein the length of the section correlates with a desired mass for balancing;
- applying the section as a balancing weight to a rim of a wheel, and
- curing the section on the wheel.
Method for manufacturing of a balancing weight material, comprising the steps of:
- mixing a viscoelastic polymer with particles of a high density material to form a mixture, the particles having a density of more than 2.0 kg/dm3, the viscoelastic polymer being at least one of uncured and non-vulcanized,
- extruding a portion of the mixture as at least one of a:
- profile, strip, strand, and/or plate, the portion having at least one surface, and
- attaching a liner to the at least one surface.
Balancing weight material comprising
- a viscoelastic polymer that is at least one of:
- uncured and non-vulcanized, and
- particles of at least one high-density material,
- where the balancing weight material comprises an extruded portion of at least one of:
- a profile, strip, a strand, and/or plate, and
- a liner and/or a self-adhesive tape attached to at least one surface of the extruded portion.
