Method and apparatus for deriving and reporting the thermic effect of food and calories consumed for an individual utilizing physiological parameters

A method for deriving and reporting the calories consumed by an individual, comprising:

• associating at least one physiological sensor with the body of said individual;
• continuously collecting sensor output signals from said at least one physiological sensor for a period of time from said individual;
• collecting quantitative physiological data of said individual related to a metabolism of said individual;
• providing at least one mathematical operation relating to an association of said metabolism of said individual with said sensor output signals, the at least one mathematical operation stored in a non-transitory memory circuit accessible to a processor in communication with the at least one physiological sensor;
• deriving values of said calories consumed by said individual from said sensor output signals by applying said at least one mathematical operation;
• modifying said at least one mathematical operation to form at least one modified mathematical operation based upon said derivation of said values of said calories consumed by said individual, such that said derived values of calories consumed is consistently equivalent to at least one of said metabolic data and observed physiological data;
• deriving the values of calories consumed by said individual by applying said at least one modified mathematical operation to said sensor output signals;
• and
• deriving the energy expenditure of said individual from said quantitative physiological data related to the metabolism of said individual, said quantitative physiological data stored in said memory circuit, under both eating and fasting conditions for said individual.
