### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The nozzle injection apparatus for use in internal combustion engines according to claim 3, further comprising:
a fuel return conduit in fluid communication with said manifold for vacating said accumulated pressurized fuel from said manifold to said fuel pump.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The nozzle injection apparatus for use in internal combustion engines according to claim 1, wherein:
said control valve is actuated during an initial cranking of said internal combustion engine.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The nozzle injection apparatus for use in internal combustion engines according to claim 2, further comprising:
a leak-off conduit in fluid communication with said nozzle; and
said manifold is in fluid communication with said leak-off conduit.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The nozzle injection apparatus for use in internal combustion engines according to claim 6, wherein:
said control valve is oriented along said leak-off conduit between said nozzle and said manifold.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The nozzle injection apparatus for use in internal combustion engines according to claim 1, further comprising:
a dual valve assembly including a first valve for controlling the passage of said pressurized fuel from said fuel pump to said nozzle and a second valve for controlling the passage of said residual pressurized fuel from said injection conduit to said fuel pump; and
said dual valve assembly is oriented along said injection conduit and between said fuel pump and said nozzle.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The nozzle injection apparatus for use in internal combustion engines according to claim 8, wherein:
said first valve is spring biased in a first direction; and
said second valve is spring biased in a second direction which is in opposition to said first direction.

### Claim 10

A method for controlling a nozzle injection apparatus of an internal combustion engine, said nozzle injection apparatus including a fuel pump for intermittently pressurizing fuel, an injection conduit for transporting streams of said intermittently pressurized fuel to a fuel injection nozzle and a pressure control valve for controlling a pressure of said pressurized fuel, said injection conduit being in fluid communication with said fuel pump, said fuel injection nozzle and said pressure control valve, said method comprising the steps of:
directing said pressurized fuel through said injection conduit to said fuel injection nozzle; and
selectively actuating said pressure control valve to maintain an elevated pressure within said injection conduit between said intermittent pressurizations of said fuel.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method for controlling a nozzle injection apparatus according to claim 10, further comprising the steps of:
detecting a pressure of said pressurized fuel adjacent said nozzle;
reading input information from sensor devices of said internal combustion engine; and
selectively actuating said pressure control valve in dependence upon said pressure of said pressurized fuel and said input information.

### Claim 12 (depends on 10)

The method for controlling a nozzle injection apparatus according to claim 10, further comprising the steps of:
ensuring that said injection conduit is vacated of said elevated pressure prior to initiating a start-up procedure for said internal combustion engine.

### Claim 13 (depends on 10)

The method for controlling a nozzle injection apparatus according to claim 10, further comprising the steps of:
maintaining said elevated pressure within said injection conduit during operation of said internal combustion engine.

### Claim 14 (depends on 10)

The method for controlling a nozzle injection apparatus according to claim 10, further comprising the steps of:
vacating a portion of said elevated pressure from said injection conduit when said elevated pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure.

### Claim 15 (depends on 10)

The method for controlling a nozzle injection apparatus according to claim 10, further comprising the steps of:
utilizing said pressurized fuel which is residually left in said injection conduit between said intermittent pressurizations of said fuel to raise a pressure within said injection conduit to said elevated pressure.

### Claim 16 (depends on 8)

The nozzle injection apparatus for use in internal combustion engines according to claim 8, further comprising:
a piston in operative communication with a ball of said second valve assembly, said piston being movable between a lowered position and a raised position upon pressurization of said fuel by said fuel pump; and
wherein when in said raised position said piston forces said ball of said second valve assembly against its corresponding seat to prevent backflow of said pressurized fuel.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The nozzle injection apparatus for use in internal combustion engines according to claim 16, wherein:
said piston moves from said raised position to said lowered position when pressure in a pumping chamber of said fuel pump is lowered; and
wherein when said piston in lowered, said ball of said second valve assembly retracts from its corresponding seat to permit express pressure in said injection conduit to flow past said ball to bring the line pressure down to a pressure level in said residual pressure gallery.
