Abstract
The invention relates to a method and a device for operating an industrial robot by means of an operating device, and includes a graphical operator interface, such as a touch-sensitive display, the robot being connected to a robot control unit.

A method for operating an industrial robot (12) connected to a robot control (16) by an operating device (10) comprising a graphic operator interface (18) such as a touch display (20), comprising the method steps:
- Requesting a desired function or operating mode of the industrial robot (12) by an activation input of at least one operating element (80, 82, 84;

- Registering the activation input of the at least one operating element (80, 82, 84;
- 96), transmission of the actuation input to a secure monitoring device (78) for enabling and/or monitoring the function to be carried out by the industrial robot (12) or the operating mode,
- Identifying graphic information (88) associated with the requested function or operating mode in the secure monitoring device (78),
- Coding the graphic information (88, 90, 108) with a random generator (100, 107) and transmitting the coded graphic information (88, 90, 108) from the secure monitoring device (78) to the operating device (10) and the display of the coded graphic information (88) on the graphic operator interface (18),
- Registering an activation input of the operator by which the correctness of the displayed, coded graphic information (88, 90, 108) is confirmed,
- Return of the confirmation input from the operating device (10) to the secure monitoring device (78) and comparison of the received confirmation input with the transmitted, coded graphic information, and
- Carrying out the requested function or operating mode upon agreement of the confirmation input with the transmitted, coded, graphic information.
A secure monitoring device (78) for the enabling and monitoring of a function to be performed by an industrial robot (12), wherein the secure monitoring device (78) is coupled to a control device (16) controlling the industrial robot (12) and to an operating device (10) for requesting the function to be performed for the exchange of data,

- the secure monitoring device (78) comprises:
- An evaluation and identification device (94) for evaluating the requesting of functions and the identification of graphic information (88) corresponding to the function,
- A coding device (99, 105) for coding the graphic information (88),
- A transmission device for transmitting the coded, graphic information (88, 90, 108) to a graphical user interface (18) of the operating device (10),
- A receiving and comparing device (102) for receiving a confirmation input from the operating device (10) and for comparing the confirmation input with the coded graphic information (88, 90, 108).
