Abstract
A method for reducing or preventing mesothelial cell damage by mixing a carrier gas and between 1 volume percent and 29 volume percent of nitrous oxide gas (N2O) to form a medicament and applying the medicament during surgery. The method can be used for prevention of adhesion formation, pain reduction, reducing or preventing acute inflammation, reducing or preventing CO2 resorbtion or reducing tumor cell implantation upon surgery.

A method for reducing or preventing mesothelial cell damage during surgery comprising the steps of:
- mixing a carrier gas and nitrous oxide gas to form a medicament, wherein the nitrous oxide gas is between 1 volume percent and 29 volume percent, and
- applying the medicament during surgery to reduce or prevent mesothelial cell damage.
