Abstract
An apparatus for preventing the dropping of a handgun during use thereof is shown in conjunction with a special glove that has metal parts attracted to magnetic grips attached to a hand gun, an electromagnetic version of the magnetic grip device, several embodiments of a strap attached to a grip on one side of a gun handle, a spring steel strap for attachment to a hand gun handle that will stay straight when moved to the straight position and coils around a person's wrist when moved from the straight position and lastly an O-ring device attached to a special glove to automatically attach to a tapered tail on a hand gun.
Claims19
An apparatus for preventing a user from dropping a hand gun, the gun having a handle, the apparatus comprising:
- a plate (303/305) formed of a first magnetic material adapted to be disposed on the handle of the hand gun;
- a glove (302) having a palm portion, a back portion, finger portions and a thumb portion;
- and
- a magnetic portion (306) of the palm portion including a material that is attracted to the first magnetic material of the plate (303/305) whereby when a user wearing the glove grasps the hand gun by the handle the plate and the magnetic portion (306) of the glove (302) will stick together due to magnetic forces between the magnetic portion (306) and the plate (303/305).
An apparatus for preventing a user from dropping a hand gun, the gun having a handle, the apparatus comprising:
- a grip attached to one side of the handle of the gun (11), the grip having two holes therein for receiving threaded fasteners (504) there through;
- and
- the threaded fasteners extending through ends of a flexible loop (501) operatively attached to the grip, the flexible loop (501/601) being of a size to tightly hold a human hand gripping the handle of the gun.
An apparatus for preventing a user from dropping a hand gun, the gun having a handle, the apparatus comprising:
- a strap (702), one end of which is operatively attached to a bottom portion of the handle of the hand gun, the other end being a free end;
- the strap comprising a spring steel metal strip (701) having a length and a width, the metal strip being formed in an arc about the width, the metal strip further being biased to a position wherein it is wound tightly upon itself;
- the strap having a first position in which it will stay straight if moved to the straight position and a second coiled position to which the strap will automatically move if the strap is moved from the straight position thereof.
An apparatus for preventing a user from dropping a hand gun, the gun having a rearwardly extending tapered tail at the top rear portion of the handle, the apparatus comprising:
- a glove (800);
- an elastomeric O-ring operatively attached to the glove between a thumb portion and an index finger portion of the glove;
- the O-ring being disposed around an axis which is generally between the index finger portion and the thumb portion of the glove when the glove would be lying palm down on a flat surface when not on a person's hand;
- The O-ring being further larger than the smaller end of the tail of a typical tail of a hand gun and smaller than the large end of the typical tail of a hand gun, whereby when a user with the glove on grasps the handle to use the hand gun, the O-ring will automatically go sequentially over the small end of the tail until the O-ring extends over a portion of the tail which is larger than the O-ring, thereby securing the O-ring by friction onto the tail.
