## Abstract

Provided is an object information acquiring apparatus, including: a light source; a detecting unit that detects an acoustic wave generated from an object which has received an irradiation light from the light source; a processing unit that generates characteristic information on the inside of the object by using the acoustic wave; and a memory unit that records the characteristic information in association with information on the irradiation light.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An object information acquiring apparatus, comprising:
a light source;
a detecting unit configured to detect an acoustic wave generated by irradiating an object with irradiation light from said light source and output a signal;
a processing unit configured to generate characteristic information on the inside of the object by using the signal output from said detecting unit; and
a memory unit configured to record the characteristic information in association with information on the irradiation light,
wherein said processing unit causes a display unit to display the characteristic information on the inside of the object and the information on the irradiation light.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said memory unit records the characteristic information in association with the information on the irradiation light which has generated the acoustic wave used for generating the characteristic information.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein
said processing unit segments the object into a plurality of unit regions, and generates the characteristic information for each unit region, and
said memory unit records the characteristic information for each unit region in association with the information on the irradiation light which has generated the acoustic wave used for generating the characteristic information on the unit region.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the information on the irradiation light is information on an angle of the irradiation light with respect to the unit region.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the information on the irradiation light is information on wavelength of the irradiation light.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the information on the irradiation light is information on the number of photo-irradiation times executed for generating the characteristic information for each of the unit regions.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the information on the irradiation light is information on decay, which is generated until the irradiation light reaches the unit region.

### Claim 8

(canceled)

### Claim 9 (depends on 3)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said processing unit determines an image quality in each of the unit regions based on the information on the irradiation light and causes the display unit to display the image quality.

### Claim 10

A method for controlling an object information acquiring apparatus, comprising:
a step of emitting irradiation light from a light source to an object;
a step of detecting an acoustic wave generated from the object which has received the irradiation light;
a step of generating characteristic information on the inside of the object by using the acoustic wave;
a step of storing the characteristic information in association with the information on the irradiation light;
a step of displaying the characteristic information on the inside of the object; and
a step of displaying the information on the irradiation light.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein
said processing unit is configured to generate the characteristic information in a reconstruction region,
said memory unit records the information on the irradiation light at a boundary surface of the reconstruction region, and
said processing unit causes the display unit to display the information on the irradiation light at the boundary surface of the reconstruction region.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said processing unit causes the display unit to display an arrow mark indicating a direction of the irradiation light.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The object information acquiring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said processing unit causes the display unit to display an intensity of the irradiation light as color-coded and a graph or color bar representing a relationship of colors and the intensity of the irradiation light.
