## Abstract

Methods and apparatus to estimate ventricular volumes are disclosed. An example computer-implemented method includes preparing a sample set using a prior probability model for a left ventricle and a right ventricle and using a likelihood function to assign a weight to each sample within the sample set. The example method also includes, based on the weighted sample set, determining an area of the right ventricle and the left ventricle.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A computer-implemented method, comprising:
preparing a sample set using a prior probability model for a left ventricle and a right ventricle;
using a likelihood function to assign a weight to each sample within the sample set; and
based on the weighted sample set, determining an area of the right ventricle and the left ventricle.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the area comprises a first area associated with the left ventricle and a second area associated with the right ventricle.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising, based on the area of the left ventricle and the right ventricle, determining a volume of the left ventricle and the right ventricle.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the sample set is associated with a plurality of frames of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) series.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising automatically generating a medical report in which the determined area is included.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising generating a representation of the left ventricle and the right ventricle based on the area.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the prior probability model uses correlating information between the left ventricle and the right ventricle.

### Claim 8

A method, comprising:
receiving an input associated with an image including a left ventricle and a right ventricle;
based on the input, automatically identifying a region of interest on the image;
using the region of interest, preparing a sample set using a prior probability model for the left ventricle and the right ventricle;
using a likelihood function to assign a weight to each sample within the sample set; and
based on the weighted sample set, determining an area of the left ventricle and the right ventricle.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein receiving the input comprising receiving an input identifying a first intersection and a second intersection between the left ventricle and the right ventricle.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, wherein the first intersection and the second intersection is automatically identified.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the first intersection and the second intersection is automatically identified by automatically identifying the left ventricle and the right ventricle based on movement of the left ventricle and the right ventricle in a plurality of frames of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) series.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, wherein the first intersection and the second intersection is received from a user input.

### Claim 13 (depends on 8)
