A position within an image (800) associated with a video signal is selected, with a cursor (802, 804) to display a marker (812, 822-826) at a position corresponding to the selected position, in a different image (810, 820) associated with the video signal. ## Claims ### Claim 1 A method of displaying a marker, comprising: selecting a position in a first image associated with a video signal; and displaying a marker at a position corresponding to the selected position in a second image associated with the video signal, the second image being different from the first image. ### Claim 2 (depends on 1) A method according to claim 1, wherein: the position in the first image and the position in the second image correspond to the same position within said video signal. ### Claim 3 (depends on 1, 2) A method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein: the first image and the second image display the video signal in formats different from each other. ### Claim 4 (depends on 1) A method according to claim 1, wherein: the first image is an image of the video signal displayed in a picture display mode; and the second image is an image of the video signal displayed in a vector display mode or a waveform display mode. ### Claim 5 (depends on 1) A method according to claim 1, wherein: the selecting and the displaying are performed on the same monitor apparatus or on different monitor apparatuses. ### Claim 6 (depends on 1) A method according to claim 1, wherein: the selecting comprises: receiving the selection of the position in the first image, the position being selected by use of a cursor; and generating position data indicative of the selected position, and the displaying comprises determining a position corresponding to the selected position in response to the position data. ### Claim 7 (depends on 1) A method according to claim 1, wherein: the first image is an image of the video signal displayed in a picture display mode, and the second image is an image of said video signal displayed in a vector display mode, and wherein the method further comprises: selecting a position in vector display coordinates in which the second image is displayed, to display an additional marker at the position, wherein the additional marker indicates a position selected by a user in the vector display coordinates in which the second image is displayed. ### Claim 8 (depends on 7) A method according to claim 7, wherein said method comprises: placing said additional marker at the position of a first said marker on the second image displayed in association with a first said video signal, thereby showing a positional relationship between the position of the first marker and the position of a second said marker in the second image displayed in association with a second said video signal, wherein an image portion at the selected position indicated by the second marker in the first image associated with the second video signal corresponds to an image portion at the selected position indicated by the first marker in the first image associated with the first video signal. ### Claim 9 (depends on 7) A method according to claim 7, wherein: the displaying an additional marker further comprises displaying values associated with said additional marker, said values associated with said additional marker indicating a position in the vector display coordinates in which said second image is displayed, and wherein the displaying a marker further comprises displaying values associated with the marker, the values associated with the marker indicating a position in the vector display coordinates in which said second image is displayed. ### Claim 10 (depends on 1) A computer readable storage medium having stored thereon computer readable instructions for causing a computer to execute a method according to claim 1. ### Claim 11 (depends on 1) A computer program for causing a computer to execute a method according to claim 1. ### Claim 12 An apparatus for displaying a marker comprising: a selector circuit that selects a position in a first image associated with a video signal, the first image being displayed on a display device; and a marker generator circuit that generates a marker at a position corresponding to the selected position, in a second image associated with the video signal, the second image being different from the first image, the display device displaying the second image and the marker. ### Claim 13 (depends on 12) An apparatus according to claim 12, wherein: the selector circuit and the marker generator circuit are provided in the same monitor apparatus or in different monitor apparatuses. ### Claim 14 (depends on 12) An apparatus according to claim 12, wherein; the selector circuit comprises: an input circuit that receives the selection of the position in the first image; and a generator circuit that generates position data indicative of the selected position, and wherein said marker generator circuit comprises: a position determination circuit that receives the position data to determine a position corresponding to the selected position; and a marker image generator circuit that generates a marker image representing a marker placed at a position corresponding to the selected position. ### Claim 15 (depends on 12) An apparatus according to claim 12, wherein: the position in the first image and the position in the second image correspond to the same position within the video signal. ### Claim 16 (depends on 12) An apparatus according to claim 12, wherein: the first image and the second image display the video signal in formats different from each other. ### Claim 17 (depends on 12) An apparatus according to claim 12, wherein: the first image is an image of the video signal displayed in a picture display mode, and the second image is an image of the video signal displayed in a vector display mode or a waveform display mode. ### Claim 18 (depends on 12) An apparatus according to claim 12, wherein: the first image is an image of the video signal displayed in the picture display mode, and the second image is an image of the video signal displayed in the vector display mode, and wherein said apparatus further comprises an additional marker display circuit that selects a position in vector display coordinates in which the second image is displayed, and displays an additional marker at the position, wherein the additional marker indicates a position selected by a user in the vector display coordinates in which the second image is displayed. ### Claim 19 (depends on 18) An apparatus according to claim 18, wherein: the additional marker display circuit comprises: a selector circuit that selects a second position in the second image, the second image being displayed on the display device; and an additional marker generator circuit that generates an additional marker to be displayed at the selected second position in the second image, the display device displaying the second image, the marker, and the additional marker, whereby the additional marker is placed at the position of a first said marker in the second image displayed in association with a first said video signal, thereby showing a positional relationship between the position of the first marker and a position of a second said marker in the second image displayed in association with a second said video signal, wherein an image portion at the selected position indicated by the second marker in the first image associated with the second video signal corresponds to an image portion at the selected position indicated by the first marker in the first image associated with the first video signal. ### Claim 20 (depends on 18) An apparatus according to claim 18, wherein: the additional marker generator circuit further generates values associated with the additional marker, the values associated with the additional marker indicating a position in the vector display coordinates in which the second image is displayed, the display device displaying the values associated with the additional marker, and the marker generator circuit further generates values associated with the marker, the values associated with the marker indicating a position in the vector display coordinates in which the second image is displayed, the display device displaying the values associated with the marker.
