Macrocell Enabled MM-Wave Superspot for Mobility

A network device that facilitates data downloads to mobile devices, the network device comprising:

• a processor configured to:
• receive a request for a mobile device data download from a network associated with the network device, the network device being configured to transmit and receive via a first frequency and is in wireless communication with the mobile device via the first frequency;
• stage the mobile device data download at a second entity configured to transmit and receive via a second frequency, the second frequency being different from the first frequency;
• wirelessly instruct the mobile device to activate a transceiver located on the mobile device that is configured for the second frequency;
• and
• cause the mobile device data download to be transmitted to the mobile device via the second frequency while simultaneously maintaining the wireless communication between the mobile device and the network device via the first frequency.

A computer-implemented method of data downloading to a mobile device, the method comprising:

• (a) wirelessly communicating with a first entity via a first frequency by the mobile device;
• (b) turning on a transceiver operating on a second frequency that is different from the first frequency at the mobile device when movement of the mobile device is expected to bring the mobile device within range of a second entity and there is data marked for download to the mobile device;
• and
• (c) receiving data packets from the second entity via the transceiver on the mobile device operating at the second frequency when the mobile device is within coverage of the second entity and simultaneously in wireless communication with the first entity via a second transceiver operating at the first frequency.
