Abstract
In one embodiment, a method includes determining a stopwrite threshold based on a standard deviation or a variance at a current position error signal sample, and determining whether the current position error signal sample exceeds the stopwrite threshold. Writing is disabled in response to determining that the current position error signal sample exceeds the stopwrite threshold. Writing is enabled in response to determining that the current position error signal sample does not exceed the stopwrite threshold.
Claims20
A system, comprising:
- a controller;
- and
- logic encoded in and/or available to the controller, the logic being configured to:
- determine a stopwrite threshold based on a standard deviation or a variance at a current position error signal sample;
- determine whether the current position error signal sample exceeds the stopwrite threshold;
- disable writing in response to determining that the current position error signal sample exceeds the stopwrite threshold;
- and
- enable writing in response to determining that the current position error signal sample does not exceed the stopwrite threshold.
A method, comprising:
- determining a stopwrite threshold based on a standard deviation or a variance at a current position error signal sample;
- determining whether the current position error signal sample exceeds the stopwrite threshold;
- disabling writing in response to determining that the current position error signal sample exceeds the stopwrite threshold;
- and
- enabling writing in response to determining that the current position error signal sample does not exceed the stopwrite threshold.
A computer program product, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the computer readable program code executable by a controller to cause the controller to:
- determine, by the controller, a stopwrite threshold based on a standard deviation or a variance at a current position error signal sample;
- determine, by the controller, whether the current position error signal sample exceeds the stopwrite threshold;
- disable, by the controller, writing in response to determining that the current position error signal sample exceeds the stopwrite threshold;
- and
- enable, by the controller, writing in response to determining that the current position error signal sample does not exceed the stopwrite threshold.
