Method and device for checking tire pressure

A method for checking a pressure in a tire of a rolling vehicle, the method comprising:

• determining a length of a tire contact patch of the tire in a driving direction;
• and
• inferring the pressure in the tire from the length of the tire contact patch.

A device for checking a pressure in a tire of a vehicle which is rolling over a roadway plane, comprising:

• at least two sensors which are spaced apart from one another in the rolling direction of the tire and which are suitable to detect a contact of the tire with the roadway plane, and
• an evaluation unit to determine the length of the tire contact patch of the tire in the driving direction from the time intervals of the sensor signals, and to infer the pressure in the tire from the length of the tire contact patch.
