Quick Tasks for On-Screen Keyboards

A computing device comprising:

• a processing system;
• and
• one or more computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by the processing system, implement:
• an on-screen keyboard for the computing device having a plurality of keys each associated with a default character entry functions;
• and
• a quick task module operable to:
• assign two or more quick tasks configured to facilitate text editing functions to the plurality of keys;
• responsive to operation of a particular key, selectively cause performance of the character entry function associated with the particular key or a quick task assigned to the particular key in dependence upon an interaction scenario recognized in connection with operation of the particular key.

A method comprising:

• assigning a quick task that is associated with multiple modifications to apply to selected text to a key of an on-screen;
• detecting operation of the key to initiate the quick task;
• and
• representing the multiple modifications of the selected text responsive to successive operation of the key.
