Apparatus, system, and method supporting compliance with customs/border requirements

An apparatus comprising:

• at least one memory configured to store information associated with a traveler, wherein the information comprises information from a passport of the traveler, a photograph of the traveler, and travel-related information associated with the traveler;
• at least one interface configured to receive an image of the traveler approaching or within a specified portion of a customs/border enforcement area;
• and
• at least one processing device configured to provide at least a portion of the information to an external system and receive a disposition code from the external system, wherein the disposition code identifies whether the traveler is allowed to pass the customs/border enforcement area;
• wherein the at least one processing device is also configured to receive the image, perform facial recognition to identify the traveler, and provide at least some of the information to an agent associated with the customs/border enforcement area.

A method comprising:

• receiving information associated with a traveler, wherein the information comprises information from a passport of the traveler, a photograph of the traveler, and travel-related information associated with the traveler;
• receiving an image of the traveler approaching or within a specified portion of a customs/border enforcement area;
• providing at least a portion of the information to an external system and receiving a disposition code from the external system, wherein the disposition code identifies whether the traveler is allowed to pass the customs/border enforcement area;
• and
• performing facial recognition using the image to identify the traveler and providing at least some of the information to an agent associated with the customs/border enforcement area.

A non-transitory computer readable medium embodying a computer program, the computer program comprising computer readable program code for:

• receiving information associated with a traveler, wherein the information comprises information from a passport of the traveler, a photograph of the traveler, and travel-related information associated with the traveler;
• receiving an image of the traveler approaching or within a specified portion of a customs/border enforcement area;
• providing at least a portion of the information to an external system and receiving a disposition code from the external system, wherein the disposition code identifies whether the traveler is allowed to pass the customs/border enforcement area;
• and
• performing facial recognition using the image to identify the traveler and providing at least some of the information to an agent associated with the customs/border enforcement area.
