Embodiments of the invention provide misappropriation protection with user location verification. The methods, apparatus and computer program products provide for approving a transaction based at least partially on a determining that a mobile device associated with an account holder associated with a transaction is located within a predetermined distance from the location associated with the transaction. In some example implementations where the mobile device is located outside the predetermined distance from the location associated with the transaction, information associated with previously approved transactions is received and the transaction approved based at least partially on a determination that previously approved transaction have occurred at the same location.
