Abstract
A method and apparatus for processing measurement data received from a remote device monitoring a subject, particularly in the field of healthcare. In order to improve the reliability of data collected by a subject using a remote device, there is a need to identify and mark potentially erroneous or abnormal readings in order to give healthcare professionals more confidence in the accuracy of the data collected. Such a method and apparatus would typically be used by hospital out-patients or patients requiring long-term monitoring.
Claims16
A method of processing measurement data received from a remote device monitoring a subject, the method comprising:
- comparing the measurement data against an expected data profile (EDP) for the subject, the EDP being derived from historical measurement data and comprising configuration information as to the configuration of the measurement data and expected value information as to the expected values of the measurement data;
- marking the measurement data with an error tag if it does not match the configuration information;
- marking the measurement data with an abnormal tag if it does not match the expected value information;
- and
- assessing any measurement data not marked with an error tag or abnormal tag, to check whether it indicates a health condition change of the subject.
An apparatus for processing measurement data received from a remote device monitoring a subject, the apparatus comprising:
- a memory storing an expected data profile (EDP) for the subject, the EDP being derived from historical measurement data;
- an expected result manager configured to compare the measurement data against the EDP, the EDP comprising configuration information as to the configuration of the measurement data and expected value information as to the expected values of the measurement data for that subject;
- a tag generator configured to mark the measurement data with an error tag if it does not match the configuration information, and mark the measurement data with an abnormal tag if it does not match the expected value information;
- and
- a data analyser configured to assess any measurement data not marked with an error tag or abnormal tag, to check whether it indicates a health condition change of the subject.
