Abstract
A patient interface device for use with a laser surgery apparatus, the device including an upper assembly and a lower assembly attached to the upper assembly. The device including a spherical-like object that engages the lower assembly so that an enclosed volume is defined between the spherical-like object, the lower assembly and the upper assembly, wherein a first liquid substantially fills the enclosed volume. The device further including a channel that contains a second fluid that is exposed to ambient atmosphere.
Claims14
A patient interface device for use with a laser surgery apparatus, the device comprising:
- an upper assembly;
- a lower assembly attached to said upper assembly, wherein said upper assembly and said lower assembly define a volume of space, wherein said lower assembly comprises:
- a portion that extends toward said volume of space;
- a suction enhancer that faces said portion and is positioned further from a centroid of said volume of space than said portion;
- a vacuum port formed in said lower assembly, wherein said vacuum port defines an opening that is in fluid communication with a vacuum source and said volume of space;
- and wherein at said vacuum port said portion and said suction enhancer contact each other along a linear area.
A patient interface system for use with a laser surgery apparatus, the device comprising:
- an upper assembly;
- a lower assembly attached to said upper assembly, wherein said upper assembly and said lower assembly define a volume of space, wherein said lower assembly comprises:
- a portion that extends toward said volume of space;
- a suction enhancer that faces said portion and is positioned further from a centroid of said volume of space than said portion;
- a vacuum port formed in said lower assembly, wherein said vacuum port defines an opening that is in fluid communication with a vacuum source and said volume of space;
- and wherein at said vacuum port said portion and said suction enhancer contact each other along a linear area;
- a spherical-like object that engages said lower assembly and said portion so that an enclosed volume is defined between said spherical-like object, said portion and said lower assembly that contains a gas, wherein said vacuum port is in fluid communication with said enclosed volume and said vacuum source removes said gas from said enclosed volume.
A patient interface device for use with a laser surgery apparatus, the device comprising:
- an upper assembly;
- a lower assembly attached to said upper assembly;
- a spherical-like object that engages said lower assembly so that an enclosed volume is defined between said spherical-like object, said lower assembly and said upper assembly, wherein a first liquid substantially fills said enclosed volume;
- and
- a channel that contains a second fluid that is exposed to ambient atmosphere.
