Orthopedic device

An orthopedic device comprising:

• a base shell having ankle and foot receiving portions, the base shell forming an opening over a dorsal aspect thereof;
• at least one observation hole formed the base shell posterior to a user's malleoli when received in the base shell, the at least one observation arranged for tactile confirmation of the position of the foot within the orthopedic device;
• a dorsal shell contoured to generally correspond to the opening of the base shell, the dorsal shell including a proximal member connected to a distal member via a flexible or resilient connecting portion arranged to accommodate a portion of the user's lower leg or malleoli;
• and
• a first flexible edge portion attached to a distal terminal end of the distal member, the first flexible edge portion arranged to bend or flex when the user's toes exert a force on the first flexible edge portion so as to reduce the likelihood of pressure points on the toes.

An orthopedic device comprising:

• a base shell having ankle and foot receiving portions, the base shell forming an opening over a dorsal aspect thereof;
• a dorsal shell contoured to generally correspond to the opening of the base shell;
• a first flexible edge portion attached to a proximal terminal end of the dorsal shell, the first flexible edge portion arranged to bend or flex when the user's leg exerts a force on the first flexible edge portion so as to reduce the likelihood of pressure points on the leg;
• a compliance strap guide formed on an anterior aspect of the dorsal shell;
• and
• a compliance assembly including a compliance strap extend through the compliance strap guide and around the posterior of the base shell such that the compliance strap is prevented from being slipped off of the orthopedic device and a compliance clasp attached to the compliance strap, the compliance clasp comprising;
• a base member having a plurality of recesses formed therein;
• a door member having a plurality of spike-like protrusions corresponding to the recesses, the door member pivotally connected to the base member and movable between an open position, wherein the door member is rotated away from the base member and the compliance strap is movable between the base and door members, and a closed position, wherein the door member is rotated toward the base member and the spike-like protrusions of the door member penetrate the recesses of the base member to lock or grasp the compliance strap between the base and door members;
• and
• a detent system arranged to lock the door member in the closed position.
