A rear drive unit for a hybrid electric motor vehicle, the rear drive unit comprising:
- a rear link/drive shaft;
- an electrical motor/generator;
- and
- a gear set coupled to the electrical motor/generator and the link/drive shaft, such that the electrical motor/generator is arranged offset in a radial direction in relation to the link/drive shaft.
