Decorative member for vehicle

A process for manufacturing decorative member for vehicle that is curved as a forward-bulging shape and comprises a transparent base, a transferred layer, a metallic layer and a base layer, the process comprising the steps of:

• preparing the transparent base including a front face, and a rear face having an ordinary section and a recessed section that is dented more forward than is the ordinary section;
• preparing a transfer sheet made by providing a support film with a release layer, a decorative layer and an adhesive layer in this order on one of the opposite faces, wherein the decorative layer is formed by gravure printing;
• applying the transfer sheet:
• onto the rear face of the transparent base;
• depressurizing between the transfer sheet and the transparent base, wherein only a space arising between the transfer sheet and the recessed section in the rear face of the transparent base is depressurized;
• pressing the transfer sheet onto the ordinary section in the rear face of the transparent base while heating the transfer sheet;
• cancelling the depressurizing and pressing between the transfer sheet and the transparent base after cooling the transfer sheet;
• removing the support film of the transfer sheet from the release layer, thereby turning the release layer, the decorative layer and the adhesive layer into the transferred layer that stays on the ordinary section in the rear face of the transparent base;
• providing the transparent base with the metallic layer on the rear face entirely;
• and
• providing the transparent base with the base layer on the rear face on which the metallic layer has been formed entirely.
