Access point coordinated re-association of wireless devices

A first access point (AP) of a wireless network, the first AP comprising:

• a network interface operable to couple with the wireless network;
• an AP coordination module operable to:
• determine, at the first access point (AP), to cause a wireless client device communicatively coupled via the network interface with the first AP to re-associate from the first AP to a second AP of the wireless network;
• communicate an AP coordination message from the first AP to the second AP, the AP coordination message identifying the wireless client device and including re-association coordination information;
• and
• coordinate the first AP with the second AP to cause the re-association of the wireless client device to the second AP in accordance with the re-association coordination information.

A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors of a device, cause the device to perform operations comprising:

• determining, at a first access point (AP) of a wireless network, to cause a wireless client device communicatively coupled with the first AP to re-associate from the first AP to a second AP of the wireless network;
• communicating an AP coordination message from the first AP to the second AP, the AP coordination message identifying the wireless client device and including re-association coordination information;
• and
• coordinating the first AP with the second AP to cause the re-association of the wireless client device to the second AP in accordance with the re-association coordination information.

An apparatus comprising:

• means for determining to cause a wireless client device communicatively coupled with a first AP to re-associate from the first AP to a second AP of a wireless network;
• means for communicating an AP coordination message from the first AP to the second AP, the AP coordination message identifying the wireless client device and including re-association coordination information;
• and
• means for coordinating the first AP with the second AP to cause the re-association of the wireless client device to the second AP in accordance with the re-association coordination information.
