Abstract
Example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a device, mobility management node and/or a serving gateway, and corresponding methods there, for providing application, service or priority based paging. According to some of the example embodiments, the decision whether or not to issue or accept a paging request may be made based on a priority, application or service (or type of service) associated with the paging request.

A method, in a Serving Gateway, SGW, for handling priority, service or application based paging, the SGW being comprised in a wireless communications network, the method comprising:
- receiving, from a Packet Data Network Gateway, PGW, a user plane packet comprising an Service Class Indicator, SCI;
- extracting the SCI from the user plane packet if there is no downlink user path established for a concerning device;
- and
- sending, to a Mobility Management Entity, MME, or a Serving General Packet Radio Service Support Node, SGSN, a downlink data notification message on a control plane, said downlink data notification comprising the SCI or reference to the SCI based on Visited Public Land Mobile Network, VPLMN, configuration.
A Serving Gateway, SGW, for handling priority, service or application based paging, the SGW being comprised in a wireless communications network, the SGW comprising:
- radio circuitry configured to receive, from a Packet Data Gateway, PGW, a user plane packet comprising a Service Class Indicator, SCI;
- processing circuitry configured to extract the SCI from the user plane packet if there is no downlink user path established for a concerning device;
- and
- the radio circuitry further configured to send, to a Mobility Management Entity, MME, or a Serving General Packet Radio Service Support Node, SGSN, a downlink data notification message on a control plane, said downlink data notification message comprising the SCI or reference to the SCI based on a Visited Public Land Mobile Network, VPLMN, configuration.
