A phosphor is provided which includes a general formula represented by CaxEuySi5O3−aN6+b and the same crystal structure as the crystal represented by Ca2Si5O3N6. X, y, a and b satisfy 1.4≦x<2.0, 0.2≦y<0.6, 0<a≦1.0, −0.5<b<1.0, and 1.6≦x+y≦2.0.

- wherein x, y, a and b satisfy
- 1.4≦x<2.0,
- 0.2≦y<0.6,

- 1.6≦x+y≦2.0.
