Abstract
The present invention relates to the use of recombinant heme-containing horseradish peroxidase isoenzyme with improved technological properties such as altered glycosylation, improved catalytic properties or improved stability and different ranges of pH optima and improved surface interactions in the treatment of waste water.
Claims11
A process for the removal of pollutants in wastewater comprising the steps of:
- a. adding at least one recombinant HRP isoenzyme to the wastewater;
- b. allowing said at least one recombinant HRP isoenzyme to react with the wastewater for a predetermined duration of time;
- wherein said incubation step is carried out without the addition of H2O2;
- and
- c. quantifying the reaction to determine the extent of purification of the wastewater by means of the reduced the level of the pollutants.
A composition for the treatment of wastewater comprising at least one recombinant HRP isoenzymes or a mixture thereof, wherein said composition is devoid of the H2O2 cofactor.
A solid support comprising immobilized thereon:
- at least one HRP recombinant isoenzyme, alone or in combination with one or more other enzymes.
