• the virtual operating element (60) is constructed as a virtual sliding element and that the virtual sliding element (60) is arranged on the touch display (20) along an edge section (56) of the display frame preferably centrally to the haptic mark (43) constructed in the form of a nub, so that the edge section (56) forms a guide when a finger is being moved along the edge section.

• a moving path between two haptic marks (42.1 . . . 42.n) is associated with an analogous value of the function of the virtual operating element (60).

A method for operating an industrial robot (12) by a manual device (10) by touching a virtual operating element (22.1 . . . 22.n, 24.1 . . . 24.n) on a touch-sensitive display (20) such as a touch display or touchscreen of a graphic operator interface (18), wherein when the virtual operating element is touched a function associated with the operating element is initiated,

• wherein the touching of the virtual operating element (22.1 . . . 22.n, 24.1 . . . 24.n) on the surface of the touch-sensitive display (20) is detected by determining a first coordinate of a touch point,
• characterized in that
• an initiation of the function of the virtual operating element (22.1 . . . 22.n, 24.1 . . . 24.n) takes place when the first coordinate of the touch point brings about a given coordinate range by a manual action of the operating person after a lasting contact with the surface of the touch-sensitive display (20).
