Abstract
A wheat cultivar designated TW419-052 is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds and plants of wheat cultivar TW419-052, and to methods for producing wheat seeds and plants by crossing wheat cultivar TW419-052 with itself or another wheat cultivar or wheat plant not designated a cultivar. The invention also relates to methods for producing seeds and plants of wheat cultivar TW419-052 containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic wheat plants and plant parts produced by those methods. The invention also relates to methods for producing seeds and plants by mutagenesis of wheat cultivar TW419-052. The invention also relates to hybrid wheat seeds and plants produced by crossing wheat cultivar TW419-052 with another wheat cultivar.
Claims19
A seed of soft red winter wheat cultivar designated TW419-052, representative seed of said variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-______.
A method of introducing a desired trait into wheat variety TW419-052 comprising:
- (a) crossing TW419-052 plants grown from TW419-052 seed, representative seed of which has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA______, with plants of another wheat line that comprise a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants, wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, disease resistance and waxy starch;
- (b) selecting F1 progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected F1 progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the TW419-052 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of wheat variety TW419-052 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times in succession to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of wheat variety TW419-052.
