Abstract
A method of manufacturing a core stiffened structure includes orienting the plurality of core wafers in a non-uniform pattern onto a first face sheet, the non-uniform pattern producing non-uniform spacing between adjacent core wafers; assembling a second face sheet onto the plurality of wafers; and curing an adhesive to create a bond between the plurality of wafers, the first face sheet, and the second face sheet.

A method of manufacturing a core stiffened structure, the core stiffened structure having a first face sheet, a second face sheet, and a plurality of wafers of composite core, the method comprising:
- orienting the plurality of wafers in a non-uniform pattern onto the first face sheet, the non-uniform pattern producing non-uniform spacing between adjacent wafers;
- assembling a second face sheet onto the plurality of wafers;
- and
- curing an adhesive to create a bond between the plurality of wafers, the first face sheet, and the second face sheet.
A core stiffened structure, comprising:
- a lower face sheet;
- an upper face sheet;
- a first core wafer having a plurality of cell members;
- a second core wafer having a plurality of cell members;
- and
- a void between the outer cell members of the first core wafer and the outer cell members of the second core wafer;
- wherein the first core wafer and the second core wafer each have an upper surface network bonded to the upper face sheet and a lower surface network bonded to the lower face sheet.
A core stiffened structure, comprising:
- a lower face sheet;
- an upper face sheet;
- a first core wafer having a plurality of cell members;
- a second core wafer having a plurality of cell members;
- wherein the first core wafer and the second core wafer each have an upper surface network bonded to the upper face sheet and a lower surface network bonded to the lower face sheet;
- wherein the first core wafer is higher is located in a region of greater desired strength as compared to the location of the second core wafer.
