Abstract
The present invention provides an inbred corn line designated ID2516, methods for producing a corn plant by crossing plants of the inbred line ID2516 with plants of another corn plant. The invention further encompasses all parts of inbred corn line ID2516, including culturable cells. Additionally provided herein are methods for introducing transgenes into inbred corn line ID2516, and plants produced according to these methods.

A seed of the maize variety ID2516, representative seed sample deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-120438.
A plant, plant part or cell of maize variety ID2516, wherein a representative seed sample of said ID2516 variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-120438.
A maize plant that expresses all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of the maize plant of the variety ID2516 wherein a representative seed sample of said ID2516 variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-120438.
A process of introducing a heritable trait into maize plant ID2516 comprising:
- (a) crossing ID2516 plants grown from ID2516 seed, representative seed sample deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-120438, with plants of another maize plant that comprise a desired trait to produce hybrid progeny plants, (b) selecting hybrid progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected hybrid progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the ID2516 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) at least three or more times to produce backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize inbred plant ID2516 when grown in the same environmental conditions.
