Abstract
A method for selecting a source address in a host electronic device is provided. The method includes determining an address type to use in communication of an application which is being executed, selecting a source address based on the determined address type, and setting the selected source address as a source Internet Protocol (IP) address for a transmission packet of the application which is being executed.

A method for selecting a source address in a host electronic device, the method comprising:
- determining an address type to use in communication of an application which is being executed;
- selecting a source address based on the determined address type;
- and
- setting the selected source address as a source Internet Protocol (IP) address for a transmission packet of the application which is being executed.
An apparatus for selecting a source address in a host electronic device, the apparatus comprising:
- an application unit configured to execute at least one application;
- and
- a source address selection unit configured to determine an address type to use in communication of the application which is being executed, to select a source address based on the determined address type, and to set the selected source address as a source Internet Protocol (IP) address for a transmission packet of the application which is being application.
