Abstract
An orthopedic device has at least one flexible or rigid frame member contoured to generally correspond to an anatomical limb. The device also includes a tightening system having a dial tensioning device and at least one cable and/or strap connected to the dial tensioning device. The dial tensioning device has a rotary ratchet permitting incremental adjustment of the cable and/or strap. Adjustment of the dial tensioner in a first direction secures the frame member to the limb.
Claims20
An orthopedic device comprising:
- at least one frame member including a first frame member contoured to generally correspond to an anatomical limb;
- a strapping system including a dial tensioning device and at least one strap having a first end connected to the dial tensioning device and a second end securable to the at least one frame member, the dial tensioning device comprising a rotary ratchet permitting incremental adjustment of at least one cable connecting to the at least one strap;
- wherein adjustment of the dial tensioner in a first direction urges the at least one frame member against an anatomical limb and/or secures the first frame member to the limb.
A circumferential walker comprising:
- at least one frame member including a posterior shell contoured to generally correspond to at least one of a lower leg, ankle and foot of a user;
- a strapping system including a dial tensioning device and at least one strap having a first end connected to the dial tensioning device and a second end securable to the at least one frame member, the dial tensioning device comprising a rotary ratchet permitting incremental adjustment of at least one cable connecting to the at least one strap;
- wherein adjustment of the dial tensioner in a first direction urges the at least one frame member to bend about an anatomical limb and/or secures the posterior shell to the limb.
The circumferential walker of 15, further comprising first and second attachments points arranged on a side portion of the at least one frame member, and guide the first and second cables respectively.
An orthopedic device comprising:
- at least one frame member including a first frame member contoured to generally correspond to an anatomical limb;
- a strapping system including a dial tensioning device and at least one strap having a first end connected to the dial tensioning device and a second end securable to the at least one frame member, the dial tensioning device comprising a rotary ratchet permitting incremental adjustment of at least one cable connecting to the at least one strap;
- wherein adjustment of the dial tensioner in a first direction urges the at least one frame member against an anatomical limb and/or secures the first frame member to the limb;
- a second frame member belonging to the at least one frame member and contoured to generally correspond to an anatomical limb;
- and
- at least a second strap connected to the dial tensioning device;
- wherein the dial tensioning device connects to the second frame member and adjustment of the dial tensioner in a first direction urges the first and second frame members against an anatomical limb and/or secures the first and second frame members to the limb.
- wherein the straps are connected to the dial tensioning device via at least one cable, the rotary ratchet permitting incremental adjustment of the straps by winding the at least one cable;
- and
- wherein adjustment of the dial tensioner in a first direction secures the straps to the first or second frame member and to the limb;
- wherein the first and second straps secure to different locations of the at least one frame member.
- wherein the first and second frame members are drawn toward one another in a clamshell manner according to tensioning of the dial tensioning device.
