Abstract
The invention relates to the identification of genetic products that are expressed in association with a tumor and the nucleic acid coding therefor. The invention relates to the therapy and diagnosis of diseases in which said genetic products that are expressed in association with a tumor are expressed in aberrant manner. The invention also relates to proteins, polypeptides, and peptides which are expressed in association with a tumor and the nucleic acids coding therefor.

A method of diagnosing cancer, which method comprises detection of a nucleic acid which codes for a tumor-associated antigen or of a part thereof in a biological sample isolated from a patient, with said tumor-associated antigen having a sequence encoded by a nucleic acid which is selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a nucleic acid which comprises a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 19-21 or 54-57, or a part or derivative thereof;
- (b) a nucleic acid which hybridizes with the nucleic acid of (a) under stringent conditions;
- (c) a nucleic acid which is degenerate with respect to the nucleic acid of (a) or (b);
- and
- (d) a nucleic acid which is complementary to the nucleic acid of (a), (b), or (c).
A method for determining regression, course, or onset of cancer, which method comprises monitoring a sample from a patient who has cancer or is suspected of falling ill with cancer, with respect to the amount of nucleic acid which codes for the tumor-associated antigen or of a part thereof, said tumor-associated antigen having a sequence encoded by a nucleic acid which is selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a nucleic acid which comprises a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 19-21, 54-57, or a part or derivative thereof;
- (b) a nucleic acid which hybridizes with the nucleic acid of (a) under stringent conditions;
- (c) a nucleic acid which is degenerate with respect to the nucleic acid of (a) or (b);
- and
- (d) a nucleic acid which is complementary to the nucleic acid of (a), (b) or (c);
- wherein the one or more parameters are determined in a first sample at a first point in time and in a second sample at a second point in time, and wherein comparing the one or more parameters from the first sample with the one or more parameters from the second sample determine the regression, course, or onset of cancer in the patient.
A kit for detecting cancer comprising an agent that binds and detects the expression or abnormal expression of a tumor-associated antigen, wherein the agent binds a nucleic acid which codes for the tumor-associated antigen or of a part thereof, said tumor-associated antigen having a sequence encoded by a nucleic acid which is selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 19-21, 54-57, a part or derivative thereof;
- (b) a nucleic acid which hybridizes with the nucleic acid of (a) under stringent conditions;
- (c) a nucleic acid which is degenerate with respect to the nucleic acid of (a) or (b);
- and
- (d) a nucleic acid which is complementary to the nucleic acid of (a), (b) or (c).
A vector comprising an isolated nucleic acid selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 20-21 and 54-57.
