Fixing device and image forming apparatus

A fixing device comprising:

• a fixing section that includes rotatable members arranged to form a nip area through which a strip-shaped medium passes, and heaters that heat the rotatable members;
• and
• a control section,
• wherein the fixing section applies heat and pressure to a toner image that is formed on the medium and passes through the nip area via the rotatable members heated by the heaters to fix the toner image onto the medium, and
• wherein the control section performs such control that the rotation of the rotatable members is started when the temperature of contact portions of the rotatable members that are in contact with the medium is higher than or equal to a second temperature that is higher than or equal to a softening temperature at which a portion of the medium softens.

A fixing device comprising:

• a fixing section that includes rotatable members arranged to form a nip area through which a strip-shaped medium passes, and heaters that heat the rotatable members;
• and
• a control section,
• wherein the fixing section applies heat and pressure to a toner image that is formed on the medium and passes through the nip area to fix the toner image to the medium via the rotatable members heated by the heaters, and
• wherein the control section controls the fixing section to perform an operation for preventing a portion of the medium heated by the heat of the rotatable members that have stopped upon the completion of the fixing from softening, peeling off, and adhering to the rotatable members.
