Abstract
If an event that requires reboot of an image forming apparatus has occurred, a time remaining until a shutdown time set for an automatic shutdown function is compared against a threshold value, and if the time remaining is shorter than the threshold value, the image forming apparatus shuts down without rebooting.

An information processing apparatus having a shutdown function, by which the information processing apparatus is automatically shut down if a certain condition is satisfied, the information processing apparatus comprising:
- at least a first control unit configured to, if an event requiring restart of the information processing apparatus has occurred and if a time remaining until a shutdown time, at which shutdown is performed by the shutdown function, is shorter than a threshold, restrict restarting the information processing apparatus.
A method for controlling an information processing apparatus having a shutdown function, by which the information processing apparatus is automatically shut down if a certain condition is satisfied, the method comprising the steps of:
- comparing, if an event requiring restart of the information processing apparatus has occurred, a time remaining until a shutdown time, at which shutdown is performed by the shutdown function, with a threshold;
- and
- shutting down, if the time remaining is shorter than the threshold, the information processing apparatus without restarting the information processing apparatus.
A computer readable storage medium storing computer executable instructions for causing a computer to implement a method, the method comprising:
- comparing, if an event requiring restart of an information processing apparatus has occurred, a time remaining until a shutdown time, at which shutdown is performed by a shutdown function, with a threshold;
- and
- shutting down, if the time remaining is shorter than the threshold, the information processing apparatus without restarting the information processing apparatus.
