Abstract
Data point calculations on a chart are provided. A user control may be displayed adjacent to a chart by a computing device. A selection of data points on the chart may then be received the user control. A calculation may then be performed by the computing device on the data points selected by the user control. The results of the calculation may then be displayed by the computing device on the chart.

A method comprising:
- displaying, by a computing device, a user control adjacent to a chart;
- receiving, by the computing device, a selection of a plurality of data points on the chart by the user control;
- performing, by the computing device, a calculation on the plurality of data points selected by the user control;
- and
- displaying, by the computing device, results of the calculation on the chart.

A computing device comprising:
- a memory for storing executable program code;
- and
- a processor, functionally coupled to the memory, the processor being responsive to computer-executable instructions contained in the program code and operative to:
- display a user control adjacent to a chart;
- receive a selection of a plurality of data points on the chart by the user control;
- perform a calculation on the plurality of data points selected by the user control with respect to one or more of a horizontal axis and a vertical axis on the chart;
- pin the user control to form an annotation;
- and
- display results of the calculation in the annotation on the chart.

A computer-readable storage medium storing computer executable instructions which, when executed by a computer, will cause computer to perform a method comprising:
- displaying a user control adjacent to a chart, the user control comprising one or more of a ruler, a protractor, a compass and a lasso;
- receiving a selection of a plurality of data points on the chart by the user control by:
- receiving a touch input;
- and
- in response to receiving the touch input, moving the user control to select the plurality of data points on the chart;
- performing a calculation on the plurality of data points selected by the user control with respect to one or more of a horizontal axis and a vertical axis on the chart, the calculation comprising one or more of a value difference calculation, an angular difference calculation, a count calculation, a sum calculation and an average calculation;
- pinning the user control to form an annotation displaying results of the calculation;
- and
- displaying, by the computing device, results of the calculation in the annotation on the chart.
