Convertible mounting bracket

A convertible mounting bracket (100) capable of securement onto load carrier bars (200, 202) of different dimensions, the bracket comprising:

• an elongate first jaw body (102) having a first end (104) opposite a second end (106);
• the first jaw body (102) having a load bar facing portion (108);
• an elongate second jaw body (110) having a first end (112) opposite a second end (114);
• the second jaw body (110) having at least two load bar facing portions (120, 122) on opposite sides (126, 128) of the second jaw body (110);
• and
• a connector (130) couplable between the first ends (104, 112) of each of the first and second jaw bodies (102, 110), wherein the connector (130) accommodates inverted reconfiguration of the second jaw body (110) between a first orientation (152) in which a first (120) of the at least two load bar facing portions (120, 122) of the second jaw body (11) is facing the load bar facing portion (108) of the first jaw body (102) and a second orientation (154) in which a second (122) of the at least two load bar facing portions (120, 122) of the second jaw body (110) is facing the load bar facing portion (108) of the first jaw body (102), and thereby accommodates securement of the convertible mounting bracket (100) onto load carrier bars (200, 202) of different dimensions.

A sporting equipment load carrier (600) having a mounting bracket (100) comprising:

• a first jaw body (102) and a second jaw body (110) for receiving a vehicular mounted load carrier bar (200, 202) therebetween, wherein a surface (109, 121, 123) of one of the first (102) or second jaw bodies (110) is adapted to abuttingly engage the load carrier bar (200, 202);
• an elongate fastener (130) attachable between the first (102) and second jaw bodies (110);
• and
• the fastener (130) comprising a male portion (172) and a female portion (174), the male portion (172) insertable at variable lengths (132, 133) into the female portion (174).
