Dynamic Calibration of Axial Accelerometers and Magnetometers

A system to perform a drilling operation, comprising:

• a drill string within a borehole;
• and
• a bottom hole assembly (BHA) coupled to the drill string and comprises:
• an axial survey sensor configured to generate azimuthal dependent downhole data;
• an azimuthal dependency analyzer configured to:
• obtain, from the axial survey sensor and based on a first portion of the azimuthal dependent downhole data, a data log as a first function of azimuthal angle within the borehole,
• generate, using a pre-determined algorithm, a fitted curve as a second function of the azimuthal angle, wherein the fitted curve is generated based on the data log to represent a calibration error of the axial survey sensor, and
• extract a calibration parameter from the fitted curve;
• and
• a calibration module configured to:
• generate, from a second portion of the azimuthal dependent downhole data, corrected downhole data based on the calibration parameter,
• wherein the drill string is configured to perform the drilling operation based at least on the corrected downhole data.
