Electronic device with environmental monitoring

A computer-program product for use in conjunction with an environmental monitoring device, the computer-program product comprising a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium and a computer-program mechanism embedded therein to determine a metric, the computer-program mechanism including:

• instructions for receiving, from an imaging device in an environmental monitoring device, imaging data for the external environment that includes the environmental monitoring device, wherein the imaging device has different spatial sensitivity associated with a resolvable change in different regions of the external environment, and wherein the different spatial sensitivity in the different regions defines a field of view of the imaging device;
• and
• instructions for determining the metric based on the imaging data.

An imaging-device-implemented method for determining a metric, wherein the method comprises:

• using the imaging device in an environmental monitoring device, measuring imaging data for an external environment that includes the environmental monitoring device, wherein the imaging device has different spatial sensitivity associated with a resolvable change in different regions of the external environment, and wherein the different spatial sensitivity in the different regions defines a field of view of the imaging device;
• and
• determining the metric based on the imaging data.
