Abstract
A ceramic toilet pan having a raised rear portion to which a hinge tube may be accurately located and fixed in position for example by adhesive using a jig despite variations in pan body size due to ceramic firing, a water pump and air pump being provided for flushing the toilet pan when a seat and lid are in a closed position. The seat and lid are rotationally mounted to the pan by a horizontal hinge pin located in the hinge tube and a latch member is provided for latching the lid and seat closed. A cistern is also provided having an overflow weir.

A toilet pan body comprising a toilet pan and a hinge formation, the hinge formation being fixed relative to a receiving formation of the toilet pan by a packing, such as adhesive, located in an adjustment play clearance between the hinge formation and the receiving formation so as to inhibit relative motion between the hinge formation and the receiving formation.
A method of manufacturing a toilet pan body having a toilet pan and a hinge formation on the toilet pan, the method comprising forming the toilet pan and using a jig to position the hinge formation while the hinge formation is fixed in position on the toilet pan.
A method of manufacturing a toilet pan body having a toilet pan and a hinge formation on the toilet pan, the method comprising forming the toilet pan and using a jig to position the hinge formation while the hinge formation is fixed in position on the toilet pan, and which includes fixing the hinge formation in position with an adhesive or packing material by locating the adhesive or packing material in an adjustment play clearance between the hinge formation and a receiving formation of the toilet pan.
