Abstract
The invention concerns a key whose blade comprises axially a window (18) forming an opening throughout the thickness of the blade between two opposite faces thereof, and a set of rollers (20) mounted in series along said windows with each roller being mounted freely rotating around a spindle (22) fixed transversal to the window. More particularly, it concerns security keys designed to cooperate with a pin tumbler cylinder.
Claims12
A key with a blade comprising an axialwindow which forms an opening through the thickness of the blade from one side face to an opposite one and in which at least two rollers are mounted to rotate freely around respective spindles fixed transversely across said window trough said blade in the thickness thereof.
A locking assembly according to claim 5, wherein the diameter of each roller is determined such that when the key is inserted into the lock cylinder the surface of the roller will cooperate with the end of a corresponding pin.
A locking assembly according to claim 6, wherein said rollers are arranged axially in series along said window formed throughout the thickness of said key blade in correspondence with said set of pins arranged in the lock cylinder, with the number of pins being equivalent to the number of rollers and the space between each pin in their axial arrangement being equivalent to the space between each one of the rollers.
A bit key comprising a key blade having an axial windows opening throughout between two opposite side faces of said blade and at least two interchangeable rollers of different diameters mounted rotative about their respective axes on spindles fixed transversely across said windows in holes bored through a solid part of said blade from an edge side thereof, said rollers being ordered depending on their respective diameters in a series of successive rollers along said window and thereby conforming to at least a variable part of a key blade signature.
A key according to claim 10 wherein a solid part of said blade aside said windows is provided with a series of impression recesses conforming to a fixed part of said key blade signature.
A locksmith assembly for reproducing keys according to claim 11 by mounting said rollers in key blanks wherein said impression recesses have been previously machined, comprising a collection of such blanks with a same locksmith signature as said fixed part of the key signature, together with a lot of spindles and with series of rollers of different diameters with said rollers being placed in a suitcase ordered in series with all rollers in a given series being of the same diameter.
