Abstract
There is provided a method of controlling a rate at which content data is received at a receiver over a network, wherein the receiver has caused a first stream of real-time communication event data to be received at the receiver, and a second stream of content data to be received at the receiver, the method comprising steps of: dynamically measuring network conditions of the network based on the real-time communication event data; and limiting the rate at which the content data is received at the receiver based on the dynamically measured network conditions.

A method of controlling a rate at which content data is received at a receiver over a network, wherein the receiver has caused a first stream of real-time communication event data to be received at the receiver, and a second stream of content data to be received at the receiver, the method comprising steps of:
- dynamically measuring network conditions of the network based on the real-time communication event data;
- and
- limiting the rate at which the content data is received at the receiver based on the dynamically measured network conditions.
A computer program product configured to control a rate at which content data is received at a receiver over a network, wherein the receiver has caused a first stream of real-time communication event data to be received at the receiver, and a second stream of content data to be received at the receiver, the computer program product being embodied on a computer-readable storage medium and configured so as when executed on a processor of the receiver to:
- dynamically measure network conditions of the network based on the real-time communication event data;
- and
- causing the rate at which the content data is received at the receiver to be limited based on the dynamically measured network conditions.
A receiver comprising:
- a network interface configured to receive a first stream of real-time communication event data and a second stream of content data over a network;
- a measurement module configured to dynamically measure network conditions of the network based on the real-time communication event data;
- and
- a rate limiting module configured to limit the rate at which the content data is received at the receiver based on the dynamically measured network conditions.
