System and Method for Adaptation of Capability Discovery for a Multitude of Transport Protocol Requirements/Scenarios Through Interworking

A network entity comprising:

• a processor configured such that the network entity receives a message that indicates that a sender of the message is a Rich Communication Suite (RCS) client, the message including a list of the sender's client capabilities and a list of contacts about whom the sender wishes to receive presence-related information, the processor further configured such that the network entity establishes a presence context based on the sender being an RCS client and on the list of client capabilities and contacts of the sender, the processor further configured such that the network entity uses the presence context to monitor events in a network, and the processor further configured such that the network entity conveys information regarding the monitored events to at least one device in the network.

A computer readable medium containing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause a network entity to receive a message that indicates that a sender of the message is a Rich Communication Suite (RCS) client, wherein the messages includes a list of the sender's client capabilities and a list of contacts about whom the sender wishes to receive presence-related information, and further to cause the network entity to establish a presence context based on the fact that the sender is an RCS client and on the list of client capabilities and contacts of the sender, the network entity to use the presence context to monitor events in a network, and wherein the network entity to convey information regarding the monitored events to at least one device in the network.
