Abstract
The present invention provides novel piperine derivatives. The present pharmaceutical or food composition containing a piperine derivative as an active ingredient is very effective in preventing or treating metabolic diseases including obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, fatty liver and insulin resistance syndrome. Piperine derivatives of the present invention useful as pharmaceuticals compositions or functional food compositions has therapeutic efficacies for metabolic syndrome selected from the group consisting of obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver and insulin resistance syndrome, and also suppress the differentiation of progenitor cells and reduce the accumulation of triglycerides.

A method for preventing, treating or ameliorating a metabolic disease selected from the group consisting of obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, fatty liver, and insulin resistance syndrome, comprising administering to a subject a composition containing a piperine derivative represented by Chemical Formula 1 or 2 below as an active ingredient:
- wherein, in Chemical Formula 1, R1-R5 are each independently hydrogen, C1-C5 alkyl or C1-C5 alkoxy;
- R2 and R3, when being linked to each other to form a ring structure, forms a heterocyclic structure including two oxygen atoms as heteroatoms;
- and R6 is
- (m is an integer of 1-4 and n is an integer of 1-4;
- R7 is C1-C5 alkyl or piperidine;
- X is oxygen or sulfur;
- and R8 is C1-C5 alkyl);
- and R6 is
- when R2 and R3 are linked to each other to form a ring structure, and
- wherein, in Chemical Formula 2, R1-R5 are each independently hydrogen, C1-C5 alkyl, C1-C5 alkoxy, or halogen;
- R3 and R4, when being linked to each other to form a ring structure, form a heterocyclic structure including two oxygen atoms as heteroatoms;
- R4 and R5, when being linked to each other to form a ring structure, form a heterocyclic structure including two oxygen atoms as heteroatoms;
- R6 and R7 are each independently hydrogen or C1-C5 alkyl;
- and R6 and R7, when being linked to each other to form a ring structure, form a heterocyclic structure including two nitrogen atoms as heteroatoms.
